A leading drinks distributor who delivers with extra care: for our partners, for our people and for the future of our environment.
Environmental
• Our solar array generates 224,500kwh** of electricity per annum with a total CO2e saving of 43.45 tonnes** per annum.
This contributes to the powering of our offices and fleet of electric forklift trucks.
• Our offices and warehouses now benefit from a smarter and energy-efficient LED lighting solution, including power-saving
movement sensors to reduce our electricity consumption.
• Renovation and replacement of the site heating system has improved our heating efficiency and reduced our energy
consumption.
• Implementation of a telematics solution has optimised our transport routing and load efficiencies.
• Bird and insect houses are repurposed from used and broken pallets by an employee and donated to the local community.
• Our cycle to work scheme affords employees the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint on their commute in a cost-
efficient way.
• As part of our waste management review, production of our product and promotion brochures has been both reduced in
number and switched from virgin to recycled paper.
We look to continue to improve our environmental impact through the continued reduction of our carbon footprint via ongoing analysis and review of our scope 1 and 2 emissions. Initiatives around waste management solutions, packaging review and marketing practices review form some of our focus in this regard in 2023. We are also embarking upon the launch of our Greener Product Portfolio to offer our customers a range of more sustainable alternatives.
Social
• Employee welfare and fostering a positive working environment is of great importance to us, and our most recent
workforce survey indicated 92% of employees would recommend Hills Prospect as an employer to others.
• We afford our employees free access to a wellbeing service that aids with areas such as mental and physical wellbeing,
lifestyle advice and financial management.
• Our volunteering programme connects us with our local community. Most recently, employees volunteered at St. Francis
Hospice, a charity local to us, helping with their Christmas Tree recycling initiative and gardening at their site.
• As part of our relationship with St. Francis Hospice, the launch of our employee clothing donation scheme has resulted in
130kg of clothes being donated for sale in their retail outlets, saving them from landfill and contributing to a circular
economy.
Social goals continue to be determined and set through extension of our community engagement outreach via charity days, donations, and volunteering programme as well as the ongoing development of our employee welfare through training opportunities and community engagement programme.
Governance
• Company policies are subjected to regular review and update where relevant to ensure compliance.
• SECR reporting compliance.
Part of our focus for this year is to implement accurate waste management certification and reporting.
